A Obviously once your decision has been made, the sooner the better, so that your child can see their school and you can be welcomed into our school community. Don't worry if you have already received an acceptance from another school, as the Department of Education granted ministerial approval for our school after the closing date of the P1 applications. It is advisable to visit the school before the school moves to its new location, in June.
Q What does child centred mean?
A Child centred means, that the work is based around your child rather than the teacher or the text. Children are valued as individuals and the work is differentiated according to your child's needs and stage rather than age of development. Child centredness also means the nurturing of children's self esteem. We believe that children who respect themselves are then open to integration and able to respect those who differ from them. The children are at the centre of all our thinking and decisions. The school exists, for them.
Q Why is your school different?
A Our school is different because we provide a planned integrated enviroment, where we seek control over our religious balance, from children to staff to governors. We believe that this is necessary in order to create a safe environment in which we can explore difference and celebrate diversity. We are also different because our school was opened by parents, from different backgrounds and cultures, who shared two common beliefs. The first is that, they want the best for their child and the second is the belief that children do not need to be separated to be educated successfully.
As an integrated school, we subscribe to the NICIE ( Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Education) Statement of Principles, a very important part of which, is child centredness.
Q What is integrated education?

The school uses the Religious Education programme outlined by the Department of Education and agreed by the four main Christian churches in Northern Ireland. Children work together to understand both the similarities and the differences between religious traditions, in a thoughtful and inclusive way. Local clergy of all denominations are welcome to participate in school events and assemblies.
We will assist parents to prepare their children for the sacraments of Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation, recognising that parents are the key educators of their children particularly in the areas of faith and religion. If parents wish any specific religious provision made for their children, they are encouraged to discuss it with the principal.
